The Alma spring Beit Midrash Present:

The Thief, the Prostitute,
the Scholar and his Wife

Characters and their characteristics in classic Jewish text and contemporary art

4 Mondays, March 5th - March 26th
7-9 pm,
at the JCC of Manhattan

Characters: some regard them as the building block of every narrative. A good character transcends time, geography and cultural boundaries - it has an archetypical quality that makes it vital and relevant wherever it unfolds. Writer Ruby Namdar and artist Ofri Cnaani will introduce and explore - through Jewish text and visual art - some of the most fascinating characters in the Bible and Talmud. Join us for an innovative Beit Midrash study program, placing classic Jewish text side by side with important modern work of video-art, installation and photography.

8 Mondays, January 15th - March 5 7-9 pm

($65-members/$80-non-members).
